Teaser Tuesdays

I've found this cool new meme (thanks to Florinda), called Teaser Tuesdays, hosted by Should be Reading. The "rules" forthwith:

TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:

  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
  • You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
  • Please avoid spoilers!
  • Leave a comment with your answers (if you don’t have a blog), or with a link to where your TEASER TUESDAYS post can be found!

** If you’re finding out about this event later in the week, you can still play along! **

I've got a few books in the fire, but I'll just post from 2. . .

The first is from Stephanie Meyer's recently released Breaking Dawn, the last installment of her Twilight series:

    "'Imagine kissing that.'

My throat ripped into flames like pulling the cord on a hot air balloon." (p. 484)

The second is from Musicophilia by Oliver Sacks.

"But for some people, it may assume an elaborate, phantasmagoric form remarkable for its mimicry, antics, playfulness, inventions and unexpected and sometimes surreal associations. People with this rarer, phantasmagoric form of Tourette's may show much more complex reactions to music." (p. 227) [Yes, that is, indeed, only two sentences!]

An aside: It is hard to get relatively new hardbacks book to fall open randomly anywhere. Just so you know.

Hey, Karen -- thanks for playing along in the "Teaser Tuesdays" event! I have "Breaking Dawn" on my pile of books to read soon... I'm just about 1/2 way through "Eclipse" right now. ;)

Anyhoo... You wanted to know how you made that link...

For this post, say ("Teaser Tuesdays"), after you've written your post, you click on the title of it (in this case "Teaser Tuesdays"), and then you'll notice up in the address bar across the top of your screen that it'll change from just the address of your blog (http://nouvelleblogger.blogspot.com ) to the "permalink" which includes that post's date and where it can be found, so:
    http://nouvelleblogger.blogspot.com/2008/08/teaser-tuesdays.html

    Does that make sense?

It works for any post you write. You just have to click the title of your post that you just finished writing (once it's published). Then, when it appears in the address bar at the top of the screen, you right-click on that, and click "copy"... then paste it wherever you're needing to use it (in a link or whatever).

    Hope that helps!

PS.. this works on other people's blogs, too -- if you click the title of their post, the link in the address bar should change to the permalink. :)

I'll be honest - my books don't usually fall open randomly either (and I mostly read paperbacks). I flip through - without actually reading anything - until I decide "I'll stop at this page."

I'm glad you've joined Teaser Tuesdays!

I like the second one. I wish to get hold of that book!

    Check out my teaser

Thanks to all for reading. . .and thanks especially to MizB for the tech help. BTW, I've got to finish the Twilight saga already--I end up staying up most of the night to read, and it's wrecking my life!!

    You're welcome, Karen!

And, yeah -- I'm with you about the "Twilight" books... I've been staying up 'til midnight most nights, and it's leaving me VERY tired the next day! But, I'm almost done book 3 now, and won't have my hands on book 4 for a bit, so maybe I'll catch up on sleep a little. LOL. :P

I'm so excited about Teaser Tuesday - such a fun meme. I'm getting all my posts pre-written for the next couple of weeks because I'm going on vacation so this will be my post on the 26th. I'm psyched to do this going forward!
